Beyond the $5 Trillion Wall: What Apple’s Record Valuation Means for Africa’s Economic Future

The Apple Inc. crossed the historic $5.1 trillion market capitalization mark which momentarily dwarfing the combined gross domestic product (GDP) of the entire African continent (~$3.67 trillion). This offered a staggering visual of modern global capital distribution. A single corporate balance sheet, underpinned by a 2.5-billion device ecosystem and relentless high-margin subscription revenues, now commands more wealth than 54 sovereign nations combined. Through the lens of the economic observers across Africa, Wall Street’s milestone is more than just an abstract figure. It is a stark reminder of the widening digital divide and a structural blueprint of where the global economy is heading. As Big Tech tightens its grip on global markets, we as Africans must also examine the economic impact, risks, and strategic lessons Apple’s record valuation holds for the African continent. The Capital Asymmetry Of Africa & The "Data Extraction" Trap A country in Africa today’s im...

From Non-League Pitches to Continental Royalty: The Rise of Antoine Semenyo

By Editorial Board   Football Player; Antoine Semenyo When the Confederation of African Football (CAF) revealed the 10-man shortlist for the 2026 CAF Men’s Player of the Year, the black star player Antoine Semenyo’s name stood shoulder-to-shoulder with established icons like Achraf Hakimi and Sadio Mané. For the lovers and observers of European football, his inclusion came as no surprise given his marquee move to Manchester City and standout performances at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.  Let’s view through the lens of his career history, Semenyo’s trajectory is a remarkable story of relentless grit and rapid evolution.  The Early Grind & Non-League Foundations Semenyo’s path to elite football was far from direct. Unsigned by top academy setups as a teenager, he played in England's non-league system with Hellenic League side Highworth Town in 2017. His sharp instincts caught the eye of Bristol City, who brought him into their academy setup in late 2017. To build phys...

Clear the Pavements, But Where Do They Go? The Unanswered Question in AMA’s 48-Hour Ultimatum

By; Editorial Board   Image source; AMA The street congestion by hawker has cause Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA) to sound the battle horn. In a swift 48-hour ultimatum, an order has been sent out to all street hawkers, petty traders, and informal vendors to vacate pedestrian walkways, bus bays, and major traffic hubs across the capital. From the sprawling chaos of the Kwame Nkrumah Interchange to the tight bottlenecks of the Central Business District, the objective is unambiguous: reclaim public spaces, restore order, and ease the stifling gridlock that paralyzes movement in Accra every day. Yes, undoubtedly, the argument for decongestion holds weight. The walkways in Accra are designed for foot traffic, not temporary wooden stalls and the bus bays belong to commuter transport, not roadside displays of apparel and electronics. When pedestrians are forced to share asphalt with speeding vehicles, public safety is compromised, and city logistics break down. Urban order is essential...

Contained inside his luggage were 46.7 kilograms of cocaine divided into 40 packages. The interception was recorded as the largest single drug seizure in Beirut Airport’s history.   What should have been a standard law enforcement victory has turned into a public relations crisis for Ghana’s aviation security. Following this incident two drastically different narratives emerged regarding how nearly 50 kilograms of high-grade narcotics cleared Kotoka International Airport (KIA) without detection. In a statement that the Ghana’s Na...

Music Talks : Are Hit Songs Backed by Unseen Forces?

We’ve all felt it; that moment a bassline pulses through your chest, forcing your heart to sync with its rhythm, or an artist hits an octave so piercing it stirs something inexplicable in your spirit. To some, music is just background noise; to audiophiles like myself, it is a supreme art. A process where human convictions, raw emotions, and life experiences are distilled into melodies, channelling powerful messages to the masses. Yet, there is something uncanny about modern global hits. We witness songs achieve world-shaking virality, their lyrics often lingering on themes of depravity and nothingness, while the public remains blissfully caught up in the vibe. It raises a haunting question: Is the success of these songs merely the result of talent and quality, or are they being propelled by unseen forces be it spiritual, emotional, or strategically manufactured to heights they could never reach on their own? Let's talk a walk as we uncover three propellers behind hit songs. Th...
