Former NSMQ Star Setornam Koku Dedey Emerges Valedictorian with Historic 4.0 CGPA: Academic City Graduation 2026

 Academic City University College has graduated its class of 2026, anchoring a historic milestone in the institution's academic annals. Setornam Koku Dedey, a brilliant Electrical and Electronics Engineering student, emerged as the Overall Best Graduating Student and Class Valedictorian, setting an unprecedented academic record for the university.

​Dedey swept the apex of the congregation awards by achieving a flawless, perfect Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.0, maintaining a straight-A streak throughout his entire undergraduate tenure. He concluded his engineering program with a stellar overall average of 91.91%, making him the first-ever student in the history of Academic City University College to attain a perfect 4.0 CGPA.



​A Track Record of Academic Excellence

​Dedey’s historic university finish comes as no surprise to those who have followed his academic trajectory. Prior to his tertiary triumph, he was a prominent member of the 2022 St. Peter’s Senior High School National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) squad.

​His exceptional intellect caught nationwide attention during Season 5 of The Sharks Quiz all-round academic competition, where he was crowned both the Best Candidate in Numeracy and the Overall Best Candidate. Following these exploits, he recorded a near-perfect SAT score of 1590 out of 1600, placing him comfortably in the global 99th percentile of test-takers.

​From Presidential Scholar to Trailblazer

​In recognition of his immense potential, Dedey was awarded the prestigious, all-expense-paid Presidential Scholarship in 2022. The scholarship, valued at $40,000, funded his entire four-year stay at Academic City.

​During his final year at the university, Dedey further distinguished himself beyond regular coursework by collaborating on real-world industrial innovations. He was a key part of a multidisciplinary engineering team that successfully designed and built a functioning automated packaging system utilizing integrated robotics and Arduino-based control lines.

​Speaking at the 2026 graduation ceremony, university officials commended the graduating class for their resilience and commitment to driving development across the African continent through innovation, leadership, and proactive problem-solving. Dedey's record-shattering performance stands as a testament to the university's mission of nurturing trailblazers capable of redefining Africa's technological landscape
